T-Shirt and Memory Quilts


The quilt that started it all – my first Freeform style quilt made using the techniques in Margaret Miller’s Smashing Sets book. The shirts represent my in-laws’ trips all around the world. The shirts are set against a “trip around the world” setting that makes up the background. 78” x 87”	Freeform T-shirt and photo memory quilt celebrating a couple’s engagement. 58” x 68”	Freeform T-shirt and photo memory quilt remembering the life of Drew Panettieri who was killed in an accident when he was 19. Lots of different memorabilia like patches, pins, school banners, and lanyards were included. Freeform T-shirt memory quilt using shirts received for running marathons 63” x 87”	Custom designed shirt and photo memory quilt for a man who passed away when his grandkids were just infants. I cut out the pockets of the shirts and stitched them on so Grandma could hide treats for the grandkids to find in Pop-Pop’s pockets when they came to visit. 56” x 65”	Freeform rag style T-shirt memory quilt made for a young child to remember her father who passed away. I made the quilt rag style because it was softer for the little girl to wrap up in. Made a coordinating quilt for her brother. 63” x 72”	Freeform T-shirt and photo memory quilt -- sports. There were too many shirts in this project and breaking them up into “Sports” and “Family” quilts rather than one large quilt made it much easier to coordinate colors. 60” x 80”

Breaking the shirts and pictures into two quilts made it much easier to handle. 62” x 72”	Freeform T-shirt and photo memory quilt, queen size with a pieced border. 84” x 92”	Freeform T-shirt and photo memory quilt made to celebrate a daughter’s 30th birthday. Mom not only kept clothes from infancy on up, but had photos of the daughter wearing some of the pieces used in the quilt. Included appliquéd hearts made from the girl’s first tutu and a section of her brownie sash. 58” x 68”	Freeform T-shirt and photo memory quilt for a dad who passed away. 78” x 87” with a pieced border.

Miscellaneous Quilts


Signature quilt celebrating my father in law’s 80th birthday. I collected signatures on finished blocks, then set them together after the party. 56” x 62”	Photo memory quilt – Fall – showing family photographs of the children’s Halloween costumes over the years. Baby Quilts

The sheep are cut from fleece and attached using machine appliqué. 42” x 54”

Personal Projects


College dorm quilt – made for my son using Margaret Miller’s Strips that Sizzle technique. Extremely fast method to make the blocks that can then be arranged in hundreds of ways. 67” x 92”	Charity Raffle Quilt – also made with the Strips that Sizzle technique. 54” x 60”	Hollow Cube Scrappy Quilt – made from Sara Nephew’s Big Book of Building Block Quilts. 42” x 59”	Space Crystal 2 - – made from Sara Nephew’s Big Book of Building Block Quilts. 39” x 41”

Victorian Crazy Patch Quilt – machine pieced backgrounds; hand embellished with beads, embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery, buttons and trims of all kinds. 47” x 63”	1,000 Piece Charm Quilt – my once in a lifetime opus – hand pieced, hand quilted. I didn’t pay attention to size; I just tried to fit as many fabrics on the front as I could. I ended up putting the last 10 fabrics on the back around the label. Fabrics were sent to me from all over the country and from Australia (thanks to my in-laws’ vacation trips). 74” x 100”	My Mom’s Purple Quilt set – Pattern found in Eleanor Burn’s book, Still Stripping After 25 Years. I also made matching shams and swag curtains. 65” x 93”	My Mom’s Teal Quilt set – To switch off of from the purple set! Quilt designed using Electric Quilt. Machine appliquéd hearts in a Double Irish Chain setting. 66” x 96”

Becky’s Mexican Star Quilt – I love this pattern by Southwind Designs. It looks great in traditional fabrics like shown here as well as contemporary batiks. 42” x 42”	Becky’s Double Wedding Ring Quilt – When my daughter got married, I just had to make her a Double Wedding Ring Quilt – thankfully, I used John Flynn’s template and method and it was a breeze! I hand quilted this quilt and finished it just in time for the wedding. 92” x 92”	My Enchanted Garden Block of the Month quilt designed by Gretchen Gibbons. Hand wool and cotton appliqué. 60” x 72”
